Slashing the Shopping Bills like a Pro! Save More Money at Lidl

Do you know how to save more money at Lidl?

My first and foremost goal when I have to go out for weekly groceries? To avoid paying the full price. How do I do that? You have to continue reading the article for that because I don’t want to spoil it for you in the first lines.

I don’t know where you shop, but one of my go-to places is Lidl. It’s full of delicious foods, prices are very friendly too, and of course, the biggest perk is it’s super close to my neighborhood.

To help you maximize your grocery budget, shop wisely, and make sure every cent is working as hard as it can for you, I’ve compiled a list of the best ways to save more money at Lidl. Let’s start!

Sign up for Lidl Plus

One of the best ways to save more money at Lidl is to sign up for the Lidl Plus app. Being user-friendly, it’s super easy to navigate for everybody, young or old. Why should you install it and use it every time you go to Lidl? It’s a loyalty app that gives you access to discounts, special offers, and some really great deals. And these offers are an extra thing besides their weekly discounts. Isn’t that great?

The more money you spend in the store, the bigger the discount! And don’t immediately jump to the conclusion that “heh, just another store that wants to spend a ton, and the discounts are very insignificant.” Not Lidl!

These deals can be made to reward you for making regular purchases or even to encourage you to try new products. With a plethora of options and mostly store-brand products, you will always find something nice at Lidl.

Depending on the shops, you may also find Happy Hour discounts for specific items, which are offered daily starting at 7 PM. The coupon can be accessed through the app and used in-store once you activate it.

Go shopping early

During the hours of 7 am to 8 am, when most stores are open, Lidl offers the best bargains and discounts on items. Although I cannot promise that you will always find massive savings when you shop, being one of the first customers will undoubtedly save you time in line and allow you to take advantage of brand-new products as soon as they are put on the shelf.

Tip: When searching for deals, keep in mind that Lidl uses orange stickers for its reduced labels, unlike most supermarkets!

Play the Super Spin promotions

Another way to save more money at Lidl is by playing the Super Spin promotions. It’s fun and gives you additional bonuses each time you spin the wheel. How does it work? Well, Lidl frequently gives away digital reward coupons in their special promotions. You can visit the Lidl Plus app and spin the Super Spin wheel after spending as little as 1p on in-store purchases.

Depending on the current promotion, you will then receive a discount coupon or a complimentary product as payment. Bakery super spins, in which you won a bakery item with each spin, and fruit & vegetable super spins, in which you won free fruit or vegetable items, were two recent promotions.

These sales may present a great chance to get freebies just by making purchases of things you would have bought anyway. By using these deals, you can get a little more for your regular grocery shopping without making any extra effort.

Additionally, you will have seven days after earning a reward to activate the voucher in the Lidl Plus app and make the purchase.

Read the terms for coupons carefully

Same as other stores, Lidl has the option of using coupons in all their locations. Depending on the week, you will see items changing. For example, this week they have sales for the Life Authentics outdoor projector and the projector stand. Next week they will probably change it with something that matches their weekly promotions. Who knows what it might be?

However, if this is the first time using the coupons (which is a great way to save more money at Lidl), I recommend reading the policy of the coupons thoroughly.

Do you need an organizer for your coupons or shopping bills? I got you! This amazing expandable accordion file organizer for storage receipt cards, coupons, and tickets is available on Amazon for just $9.99. Buy it while it lasts!

Special new items come out on Wednesdays

If you want to save more money at Lidl, I suggest visiting the shop weekly on Wednesdays. Every Wednesday, Lidl introduces a fresh range of products in a dedicated area of the store that features apparel, kitchenware, and a variety of other interesting and practical items. Why not pair your cheap produce and two-for-one canned goods with a three-tiered drying rack, a gaming headset, or some Spiderman socks for your juniors?

In addition to these distinctive products, you can explore a discounted health and beauty section, cleaning supplies, high-quality pet food and toys, and more.

Keep an eye out for in-store discounts

As previously mentioned, you can save more money at Lidl if you shop early in the morning. Keep an eye out for the orange or green stickers, as these reductions might be on the shelf where the products are typically found.

Orange stickers are used to indicate the first reductions, which are usually 30% off. Larger bargains are likely to occur later in the day, in the early evening. Depending on the time of day, the value of the item, and even the amount of stock they have left to sell at the end of the day, Lidl uses green stickers to help you save money.

Run to the Pick of the Week section

When you’re thinking about how to save more money at Lidl, it’s time to take a look at the Pick of the Week section that’s on display every Thursday. In addition to discounted fresh fruit and vegetables, there are theme events here. Wine tours, garden parties, baby showers, and more are a few examples.

The Pick of the Week fruits and vegetables are usually found near the front of the store, at the end of the aisle. This is incredibly practical and serves as a wonderful reminder of these amazing deals while you’re in-store.

Additionally, there are Pick of the Week deals on fish and meat. Occasionally, these are larger packet sizes, called family packs. I advise you to separate the packets, properly wrap the contents, and then freeze them for use in meals over the next few days or weeks.

Look out for recently opened stores

Another way to save more money at Lidl is by shopping in the recently opened stores. Giving out unique welcome cards that, upon spending a specific amount (which is determined by the store’s policies), enable you to claim a free item upon presenting your card.

The freebies change every seven days during these promotions, which typically last for six weeks. To find out when a store is opening, check your local newspaper or their website.
