Set some new goals regarding shopping
As another retail therapy alternative, you should set goals for yourself to stop your shopping addiction. For instance, make a plan not to spend any money until the weekend. Or, when you leave your house, leave all your cards behind. Only take the cash you plan to spend.
This is a good way for you to control yourself. You can’t exceed your spending limit if you don’t have any cards in your wallet. Start with setting daily goals for how much money you want to spend. Then, you can develop a plan for how much money you’ll spend in a week.
After this, you can establish another goal for how much you’ll spend shopping in a month. Once you realize you can go without some of your purchases, these goals will seem like a breeze.
Of course, there’ll be some necessary purchases. But you should try to budget for them accordingly. At the same time, if you go over budget in one area, you can spend less money in another.
