Buy More, Save More: These 12 Things Are Always Cheaper at Walmart

Walmart is known for lots of things—being a low-price leader, its Everyday Low Price Guarantee, and, of course, the People of Walmart. Even if you’re not an avid shopper at the retail giant, it can be pretty hard to miss its prices and deals, especially when you’re on a budget.

The store’s grocery items serve as a relevant example of its competitive prices. In 2022, reporter Carolyn Cedra compared 10 products between Walmart and three of its main competitors. The report’s findings showed that Walmart beats the competition by up to five dollars.

For instance, if you’ve ever bought a candy bar at a Walmart register, you’ve probably noticed that those products tend to be cheaper than in other grocery stores. Also, a bag of Snack Size Kit Kat here costs around $3.5, while Kroger sells it for around 50 cents more.

Of course, the retail giant’s prices aren’t the lowest on every item, but overall, its prices are sometimes pretty hard for many competitors to beat.

Whether you’re shopping for food or a new vacuum, these products are always cheaper at Walmart. Check this out!

1. Insulin

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are more than 37 million adults and children in the US living with diabetes. And, the group added, this health condition costs $327 billion annually in lost wages and medical costs.

Similar to many other medicines, how much insulin costs depends on where you buy it. That’s where Walmart makes things easier. The retail giant is committed to making this medicine more affordable, especially for those who don’t have insurance.

To give you an idea, Walmart has been selling Novolin ReliOn Insulin N for $24.88 for years. In 2021, the store added the more modern and popular five-pack flex pens and analog 10 mL insulin vials under its ReliOn brand in partnership with a national manufacturer. The price is about 20% of the cost of similar insulin at other drugstores and pharmacies.

2. Pots and Pans

When it comes to finding the best price for pans and pots, Walmart is likely to have more affordable options for your wallet. Between the products available to order online and what you can find in-store, Walmart has a wide variety of selections at a range of price points to attract those setting up their first home or even the pickiest chefs.

Ceramic stone, ceramic, nonstick, and copper pans are the options, whether you’re looking for just one pan or a full set.

3. Photo Printing

Some people thought that digitalization would make some things, like traditional photos, disappear. Their concern wasn’t completely groundless. I mean, nowadays, you take photos with your phone camera and have them saved on the device. Why would you print them if you can look at them on your phone whenever you want? Well, it’s not the same, and people have started to realize that.

My point here is that photo printing isn’t going anywhere soon. We still love to have our favorite memories printed. For example, you can get standard 4-by-6 photos printed at Walmart. The service is available for items like mugs and posters, too.

Day-to-day prices are lower than those you can find at competitors such as CVS. If ordering from Walgreens, CVS, or another store, check their websites for coupons to apply to your order. However, even when using these coupons, Walmart prices could end up being less expensive.

4. Chromebook Computers

A good Chromebook can do almost anything a normal laptop can do, and the best ones can even outdo their similarly priced Windows counterparts. If you need a new computer, a Chromebook may be an affordable option.

Walmart has a wide range of computers to choose from, and if you’re looking for a basic computer to use for general stuff like reading articles on the web, listening to music, and watching movies, Walmart is the place to shop.

For instance, an 11.6-inch Chromebook computer, ideal for online shopping, social media, and email, can be half the cost of other similar models at competitors.

5. Beach Towels

If you’re planning to go on a vacation where there’s a beach and a lot of sun, you may be thinking about the basic items you’ll need, and that includes beach towels. By the way, isn’t it funny how they seem to disappear as if the ground has swallowed them? You buy one or several this summer, and by the next hot season, you end up with them missing.

Maybe in your case things are different, but anyway, a new beach towel is always nice to have with you on your summer vacation. If you need to replenish your supply, Walmart is the best place to do that. In fact, you can find colorful, inexpensive beach towels even out of season.

6. Aluminum Foil

We reach for aluminum foil constantly in the kitchen. We use it to cover baking dishes to avoid having the food dry out, to line baking sheets for easy cleanup, and to wrap food so it will steam gently in the oven. In other words, aluminum foil is kind of indispensable in the kitchen.

When it comes to its price, you won’t find it anywhere cheaper than at Walmart. For instance, a 75-square-foot roll of Reynolds Wrap can cost more than 4 cents per square foot at other grocery stores. If you use a lot of aluminum foil, the savings add up.

7. 6-Foot Folding Tables

Whether you’re throwing a party, squeezing in extra dinner guests, holding a garage sale, or camping with friends, a large folding table is always great to have on hand. With folding tables, they are easily foldable when unused and can be moved out of the way, creating more space.

A six-foot folding table costs much less if you buy it at Walmart than elsewhere. At the retail giant’s affordable price, you can use the money you save to buy other essentials for the next party you’re throwing at home.

8. Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen

Walmart sells acetaminophen and ibuprofen under its private label, Equate. You can find both small and big bottles, but no matter what size you buy, the price is incredibly good.

Either over-the-counter medication can cost up to two cents per tablet (obviously, the price depends on the quantity you buy). On the other hand, buying the house brand at your local pharmacy or drugstore could cost anywhere from 100% to 900% more.

9. Luggage

Shopping for luggage can be an expensive and tedious process, but at Walmart, you don’t have to worry that you won’t find something to appeal to your taste or your budget.

The retail giant has a selection of basic options, from affordable weekend luggage to hard-sided spinners to check with the airline or carry on.

You can either buy a piece or a whole set to make sure you won’t need to make the same purchase in the near future. Brand names include American Tourister.

10. Vacuums

If you’re looking for a quality vacuum cleaner at an affordable price, Walmart is the perfect place. The giant retailer offers a wide range of options; you can find vacuums at some of the lowest prices on the market as well as some high-performance vacuums.

In fact, you’d be surprised to see how many options you have. The store sells cordless, upright, handheld, stick, and robotic vacuums, as well as models specially designed to handle steam cleaning and pet hair.

Available brands include Bissell, Hoover, Eureka, Shark, Anker, and Dirt Devil.

11. Keurig Coffee Makers

If you love coffee, you know how important it is to have a good coffee machine at home. If you need a new one, you should head to Walmart and see what options the store offers.

When the Keurig coffee makers were first introduced, just one model was sold. Now, there is a pretty wide variety of Keurigs on the market, and the good news is that many of them are less expensive at Walmart.

Use the money you save to buy extra coffee pods.

12. Comforter Sets

While a set of king-sized microfiber bed sheets is usually about the same price everywhere, check out Walmart for the comforter sets. Sure, you can also have a look at Amazon, which has some great options (like this one, for example).

However, if you’re looking for a basic comforter, Walmart is the perfect place to find one. Not only does the retailer sell good-quality comforter sets, but they are also much more affordable than what competitors offer.
