Looking for a Reason to Shop at Lidl? These 11 Items are Top Notch

Do you shop at Lidl? If not, this article will change your mind, trust me!

I don’t know about you, but I am a creature of habit, especially when it comes to grocery stores. Think about the products you frequently purchase, paying more for the well-known brands you were raised with without question. They are well-known, and you can vouch for their quality, so everything is good. But can we still do this, though, given the rising cost of groceries and living expenses in general?

Well, I’d say no, at least for the basic pantry staples. You don’t need to splurge a fortune on spices, baking supplies, cereals, coffee, and other things you use daily or more often. The “posh” food selection at Lidl has been improving steadily, especially the Deluxe collection which has delicious products. And while the major supermarkets may price-match Aldi, for example, Lidl is slowly becoming the best in maintaining competitive prices.

If you’re looking for a reason to shop at Lidl, continue reading the article, because I will be giving you a huge list and you will wonder why you didn’t go earlier. Just a heads-up that I won’t be sharing the prices of each item since they can vary depending on where you are. When you visit the store, you’ll be able to check the prices yourself. Happy shopping!

Lidl white sourdough bread

I don’t know about you, but I like eating bread, especially the freshly gotten out of the oven. Since Lidl is in my neighborhood and I get to shop at Lidl twice a week, I go around 9 am to check if the white sourdough bread is on the shelf. At a fantastic price, this is the real thing. It makes excellent toast and keeps it well for even 2 or 3 days if you keep it in the fridge. You should also try the seeded sourdough.

Spices and salt

For large families, buying in bulk is probably the wisest choice when it comes to groceries. But what if I tell you that at Lidl, you can buy generic items like condiments (including salt and pepper) for a very low price? I now go to Lidl first when I need to restock on items like salt, red pepper, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, and the like. Their iodized salt brand is literally half as expensive as the name brand they also sell.

Sauces

Given that they are a German company, it should come as no surprise that their seasonal, stone-ground, and Dijon mustards are excellent and far less expensive than those of other gourmet imports from abroad.
They also offer American spicy brown and yellow, along with a variety of ketchup to go with them. One of my favorites is their organic one. Are you looking for some tasty marinade sauces? Look no further because you can shop at Lidl from barbecue sauces to seasonal limited editions for a bargain.

JD Gross Premium Ecuador dark chocolate 70%

When holidays are approaching, I always look for recipes to help me cook a lot of goodies for my big family. Among all things, our favorite is the famous chocolate Christmas cake I make annually. For that, I need a lot of things, which I also buy from Lidl, but the most important is the chocolate. I usually go for a 70% cocoa one, but you can choose whichever you like the most.

So you can shop at Lild for single-origin dark chocolate with 70% cocoa. Why purchase it from Lidl? To begin with, it’s less bitter than other varieties, and it’s also reasonably priced. In addition to being creamier, it had a fairly balanced flavor. It’s also suitable for vegans!

Breakfast cereals

How much do you spend on breakfast cereals per month? Or do you eat cereals for breakfast? If the answer is yes, and now you’re looking to see how much you paid for them, stop it right there. Next time you do your grocery shopping and you plan on buying cereals, go to Lidl.

The lowest price I’ve ever seen for Honey Bunches of Oats, for example, is somewhere around $2 per box if you purchase multiples; however, “oat hoops,” “fruit rings,” and “magical forest” cereal with marshmallows are even lower. In case these have too much sugar for your taste, you can opt for their healthier picks, the oats, for example.

Greek yogurt

Every healthy diet must include Greek yogurt! Being high in protein and healthy fats, the one from Milbona is especially tasty and affordable too. It’s thick, creamy, and delicious, and because they have a plethora of options, if you’re looking to manage your cholesterol levels, the light version suits you best.

Bellarom coffee creamer

The next one is Lidl’s brand, Bellarom, and if you haven’t tried it yet, it’s time to. I absolutely recommend their coffee creamer. I like the vanilla one, but they have lots of other flavors available. Also with zero sugar added for those interested! The biggest perk of these coffee creamers? They’re significantly cheaper than the ones at Aldi’s.

Whenever I go shopping at Lidl, I already know I will come back with at least 5 full bags. But I got tired of buying cheap and low-quality bags that will eventually break down before I get home with all my groceries safe and sound. So what did I do? I bought this amazing pack of 10 reusable grocery bags with sturdy handles and a heavy bottom that can support up to 45 lbs. Order them from Amazon by clicking on this link.

Canned soups (or pretty much everything)

You’ve reached this far with the lecture, but you’re still looking for reasons to shop at Lidl? Then you have to try their canned soups, or canned goods in general. Why do I recommend it? I have used these in many recipes, but also heat them and consume them as a whole.

Besides canned soups, I also recommended the Italian cherry tomatoes in tomato juice available in the Deluxe collection, which might be seasonal, but when you find it, buy one to try it out. Because they are cherry tomatoes, you will get more sweetness, but adding a bit of extra salt can diminish it quite well.

Additionally, the juice from the can is nice and thick, and it’s delicious when added to a vegetable pan, cooked down into a tomato sauce, or stirred into a risotto.

Baking supplies

Baking for many people can be costly, especially these days. So why not pay less if the ingredients won’t be able to be distinguished from one another? This applies to baking soda, cornstarch, all-purpose flour, and whole-wheat flour, all of which are significantly less expensive than store-brand products.

Are you also cooking for family members with special health needs, like no gluten? Don’t worry, because Lidl got you covered! Lidl’s brands also offer organic coconut flour and almond flour at significantly lower prices. Furthermore, sugar is quite affordable here if you’re planning to make desserts.

Baresa green pesto

Although it’s not the best pesto available, it’s reasonably priced and comes in a decent-sized jar of 6 ounces. Additionally, compared to some brands, it has more extra virgin olive oil instead of cheaper vegetable oil.

Dentalux mouthwash

Comparable to Listerine, the Lidl brand mouthwash is 33.8 fl oz and significantly less expensive. When you can get nearly the same quality for less money, why spend so much on Listerine? Now tell me, which products are your favorites from Lidl, and how often do you go shopping there?
