6. You can try to apply for assistance

There are many retirees out there who fail to take advantage of the various assistance programs that are available to them. Most of them are not even aware of the existence of the programs, and because of this, they don’t apply.

It is not your fault that you don’t know about the many assistance programs, and we want to tell you about some of them. Have you ever heard about Medicaid? This is a program for which low-income individuals might qualify, and it covers bills that are not covered by Medicare.

Also, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a program that offers monthly financial benefits for the blind and disabled elderly who have very low incomes and limited resources. Programs like dial-a-ride might provide retirees with affordable transportation so they can live without a car and the high insurance costs that come with it.

Government programs or community programs – it doesn’t matter. If they are available in your area, you should take advantage of them and reduce or completely eliminate some out-of-pocket costs.
