11 Most Popular Grocery Stores on The West Coast

You probably know what your favorite grocery store is, but have you ever thought that you’re not the only one? I bet many other folks out there feel the same way you do. And as it turned out, grocery store customers in America have a lot to say when it comes to their grocery store preferences.

In fact, the list is pretty short, so let’s see what the most popular stores are on the west coast, shall we? In order to understand how to properly make this list, we had to look at all kinds of rankings. Luckily, we managed to pull up a short list of some of the best grocery shops out there. Let’s see what we’ve got:

Arizona- Food City

The most beloved, appreciated, and hence popular store in Arizona is, for sure, Food City. This store managed to blow the competition out of the water, and it is due to the fact that it is the highest rated in the entire state.

They serve some of the best and most delicious treats you could find to snack on while you’re shopping for groceries. Whoever you ask, they will tell you the same thing: this is not your average grocery store. Even more recently, Food City added a Starbucks store to their location, and customers couldn’t be happier because of this. Now they get to shop for what they need while drinking their favorite pumpkin spice.

California- Food 4 Less

Well, here’s a wild stretch! Even if Trader Joe’s, one of the biggest retailers in the United States, was founded in Pasadena, California, it seems that its motherland would rather shop at Food 4 Less.

The majority of people expressed their infinite love for the retailer, which ended up being the highest-rated chain of stores in California. In fact, a whole strip of them runs every other week down Highway 99 in California, crossing from northern to southern California.

In order to properly evaluate the best-rated, we had to look at the top ratings for the three largest regions of California, and guess what? Food 4 Less was consistently rated at the top.

Colorado- King Soopers

Even if Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s ended up on some pretty high rankings in Colorado, we can’t argue the fact that King Soopers is the winner of people’s hearts. There are multiple locations in the state that are highly rated on Google for their varied grocery options.

The first King Soopers opened in 1947 in Arvada. The store was meant to offer all shoppers “friendly service, value, cleanliness, and high quality”. Well, it seems that they succeeded. They have great loyalty programs, a lot of clearance items, which are also known as “Manager’s Specials”, and many freebies, which you can access through their free Friday download.

Idaho- Natural Grocers

As for Idaho, the best grocery store in the state is Natural Grocers. The community grocery store is proudly taking care of customers and their needs, as they have all kinds of supermarket staples, from organic produce to a wide selection of meats and cheeses.

What’s also great about this store is that it goes above and beyond by stocking a rich variety of dietary vitamins and supplements, as well as pet and body care products. But that’s not all: at Natural Grocers, you will get something that you won’t find anywhere else: free nutrition education. I can see why so many people are so fond of it.

Montana- Rosauers

It doesn’t even matter that Rosauers is basically a business founded in Spokane, Washington, back in the 1940s, as it’s still the highest-rated supermarket in Montana. There are no more than four Rosauer’s stores there, all of which are rated as the best in the state.

It has a bulk food section of nuts, but also a wide range of dried fruits and grains. Oh, and did I mention that you can fill containers with honey and Dr. Bronner’s soap? Their bulk section also has coffee from Portland Coffee Roasters and your favorite tea from Tea Hunters. If you’re vegan, you’ll find plenty of plant-based meat and cheese and a wide range of healthy snacks.

Nevada- WinCo

Consider WinCo Foods as a more affordable and no-frills version of Costco, because that’s exactly what it is. It seems that on Google reviews, this supermarket is at the top. It has numerous locations all over Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Texas.

If you’ve never heard of them, that’s possibly because they don’t like to focus on advertising to keep costs as low as possible. But if you still want to know what’s good in there, you can always sign up for their emails, and you’ll receive a weekly newsletter with some of the best deals at WinCo.

New Mexico- Los Alamos Cooperative Market

As some states have well-known supermarket chains on top, it looks like Los Alamos Cooperative Market steals the show in New Mexico! The store has been rated as one of the best grocery stores in the whole state. It seems that they even have bulk bins, which are ideal for those who might be looking to become more sustainable and carefully deal with their food.

Oregon- New Seasons Market

As shown on Google ratings, New Seasons Market is highly appreciated by many customers in both Portland and Vancouver. It was founded in 1999 in Portland, and now it’s famously known for some of the best products you can find.

In fact, New Seasons Market produce comes from farmers, producers, ranchers, and fishermen, so everything is top quality! On Foursquare, New Seasons Market’s customers can’t stop talking about how great their service is, and they recommend the market’s Hot Deli.

Utah- Harmons Grocery

Since 1932, Harmons Grocery has been fully dedicated to providing customers with the best products and food. The store has a clear mission of appreciating all collaborations and exceeding the customer’s expectations. Well, their job is definitely well done, as customers are definitely satisfied, judging by all the high ratings!

Washington- Vegan Haven

Vegans, you’ll be happy to read this! It seems that Vegan Haven is the number one grocery store in Washington. So next time you go shopping at Vegan Haven, make sure you bring that vegan grocery shopping list!

Wyoming- Jackson Whole Grocer & Cafe

Jackson Whole Grocer & Cafe is the best grocery store in Wyoming, or at least that’s what customers say. They have a wide variety of fresh products for you to buy and a wide array of meals to enjoy in their serene sit-down space inside the store. The organic supermarket was founded 30 years ago, and it served all kinds of whole foods and high-quality products to all citizens in Jackson Hole.
