According to certified retail professionals, the idea that TVs are cheapest on Black Friday is a bit of a misconception.
They explain that the best deals on these electronic devices during holiday sales are generally off-brand models that won’t last. These so-called deals are used as doorbusters to draw potential customers.
Money-saving expert Andrea Woroch points out that you may also find a great price on derivative models, which are look-alike models of popular name-brand TVs created specifically for holiday sales. The catch here? They often miss key features or components.
This being said, TVs are some of the things you should buy after Christmas, not before. A low price on a lousy product isn’t a great deal, especially if it doesn’t deliver what you need, as you could wind up spending more in the long run to replace it.
Retail experts recommend waiting for high-end TVs to go on sale, which usually happens in late January ahead of the Super Bowl.
