7 Name-Brand Products That Are Worth Splurging On

Sometimes name-brand products are worth it!

We all know all the name-brand products, especially since they are so much more expensive than their generic counterparts. But are they really worth it?

For some, it seems like the 20% to 25% price increase just for the emblazoned product is not going to be worth it.

For others, the fact that it is solely more expensive just because of the name associated with the product seems like a scam. After all, if they were the same product, you would only pay for the name.

In reality, there is more to name-brand products than their name, and you should not be skipping on them, there are lots of customers that would never pick generic. But what is it that convinced them to make this choice?

Today we take a look at some of the name-brand products on the market and see why the price markup for them is actually justified. Can you guess which ones they are?

Do you believe the higher prices make sense? Which ones are you down to paying for? Share your answers in the comments!

Tomato Sauce

This one may be confusing to many customers since it is just tomato sauce after all. What could happen to it that would justify the price markup?

The answer here is pretty simple. It is not about what can or has happened to it, but rather what goes into making it.

Tomato sauce is, in the end, a staple in many American kitchens, and there is a wide variety of items to choose from. Yet, those ones from name-brand are going to be the best ones to go for.

This is because generic versions are going to use lower-quality olive oil, tomatoes, and spices since this is how they can lower their costs.

As a result, the sauce needs to be balanced out with more sugar and sodium than some name-brand products!

This can lead to having too much salt and sugar in your food, which, in the long run, can start affecting your health.

Generally speaking, it is better to go for name-brand tomato sauce than risk it.

Ice Cream

This one here is one that you have probably come across too, if you ever happen to pick generic over name-brand ice cream.

This is not to say that generic ice cream is bad (as some store-brand products can rival the high-established creameries), but rather that you are going to truly get a better-quality product from an established brand.

How they manage to make their ice creams better, both in taste and texture, is the reason that big ice-cream brands like Talenti, Ben & Jerry’s, and Häagen-Dazs make their product through processes that incorporate less air into the product.

As a result, the ice cream they produce is noticeably denser and creamier, and it is less prone to forming ice crystals inside that can ruin the texture and feel of store-bought ice cream.

Not to mention, higher-quality ingredients are going to win in this category as well, which definitely makes an impact when it comes to ice cream.

Coffee

Everyone is talking about how buying coffee from coffee shops is what makes you lose money, but they do not talk enough about how you can choose the best-packaged coffee at the grocery store.

Unfortunately, if you want to be able to make quality coffee at home, you will have to start choosing and buying name-brand products at the store.

The truth about ground coffee that is packaged and sold on supermarket shelves is that it is one of the most affluent food items out there.

If you end up going with generic coffee, you will increase your chances of getting cheap filler mixed in with the grounds, as some brands add corn, soybeans, and plant debris to the mix.

The coffee you will get from a name-brand roastery is going to be purer, have more flavor, be of better quality, and be more ethically sourced.

If you are going to be skipping coffee to save some money, at least make sure the one you drink at home is of great quality.

Bandages

Yes, we know it is a weird name-brand product to mention, but in the grand scheme of things, getting the ones that you know well is going to make a difference.

In this case, you should go for the Band-Aid bandages since they are generally the best, as their generic counterparts more often than not do a lousy job when it comes to adhering to the skin.

What’s more, generic bandages end up drying out or not lasting as long as they should.

This, in turn, will end up making you waste more money since you will have to replace or use way more than if you just spent the extra coin on the name-brand ones from the beginning.

If you’re wondering where you can get the best bang for your buck when it comes to brand bandages, we recommend looking online.

You can find deals and sales on 100 packs of Band-Aid bandages pretty easily, which will only cost you $0.08 per count and will definitely last you a long while!

Cheese

While some people are going to swear by their generic brand of cheese, there are some types that you should never cheap out on.

In the end, you will always be able to taste the difference between the name-brand cheeses and the knock-off brands.

There is something about them that is not going to be the same, and if you are relying on cheese for a dish, you can risk ruining it just because you did not get the more expensive one.

This is not to say that you should only get the expensive cheeses out there or not go for a cheaper brand, but rather that if you are looking for a creamy texture and superb flavor and taste, know that you can only get it with name-brand products!

Tennis Shoes

It may sound like nothing, but not having the right quality shoes can sign you up for a long road of leg and foot issues. This is not to mention the knee and back issues they can bring about too.

Sure, cheaper off-brand sneakers are great when we are looking for a quick fix and you are in a pinch, but in the long run, they can be a horrible choice.

If you ever bought the cheapest tennis shoes, you know how your feet start to hurt shortly after starting to wear them.

What’s more, they can badly impact the way you walk and step, and they are not made from the best quality products.

In the long run, all these knock-off brand tennis shoes are not going to be worth the amount of issues you can get from them, and the money you save won’t be worth it.

So we recommend you stick to name-brand products, even if they are more expensive.

Batteries

This is one of those products we do not think about too much until we need to replace the battery in some appliance and we do not have it on hand.

While it may not seem like a nonissue, using the wrong batteries can cost you the longevity of your electronics, and they are not as powerful as most name-brand batteries.

If you keep relying on cheap, generic batteries, you will see that you have to change them more often than not and that some of your electronics are not performing as well as they could.

Save yourself the headache and stick to the name-brand batteries for this one!

Name-brand products are sometimes more durable, and that’s a fact. This is why you should also make a habit of looking for them if you are thrifting!
